Connectivity Mode

The ATL4500G offers 2 distinct connectivity modes to suit various operational needs: WLAN mode and LTE mode

Understanding the differences between these modes is crucial for optimal camera performance and data transmission.

WLAN Mode

In WLAN mode, the camera connects to the internet via a Wi-Fi network. This is ideal for situations where a stable Wi-Fi connection is available, such as in an office, home, or other location with a wireless router.

  •  Data Usage: Data transmission in WLAN mode utilizes the connected Wi-Fi network's data allowance.
  •  Setup: Navigate to System Settings > Switch the Connectivity Mode to WLAN Mode > WLAN Settings (see the "WLAN Connectivity" section for detailed instructions). Select your desired network from the list of available networks and enter the password if required.
  •  Indicator: When the camera is successfully connected to a Wi-Fi network, the  icon in the camera list will light up.

LTE Mode

In LTE mode, the camera connects to the internet via a 4G LTE cellular network, using a compatible SIM card. This provides connectivity in areas where Wi-Fi is unavailable, offering greater flexibility and mobility.

  •  Data Usage: Data transmission in LTE mode utilizes the data allowance associated with your SIM card's data plan. Be mindful of data usage to avoid unexpected charges.
  •  Setup: Requires a compatible SIM card to be inserted and activated (see the "4G LTE Connectivity" section for detailed instructions).
  •  Indicator: When the camera is successfully connected to the LTE network, a signal strength bar  will be displayed on the camera's dashboard. Also, the  icon with a 4G symbol in the camera list will light up, specifically indicating an LTE connection.

Switching Between Modes

You can switch between WLAN Mode and LTE mode by navigating to System Settings > Connectivity Mode and selecting your desired mode.

Important Note: If the camera is currently in LTE mode and you wish to switch to WLAN mode, you must first connect to the camera's Direct Wi-Fi network (also known as camera Wi-Fi). This is a crucial step to prevent losing remote control access to the camera.

WLAN Connectivity

  1.  Ensure the camera is within range of a Wi-Fi network with internet access.
  2.  Navigate to System Settings > Connectivity Mode > WLAN Mode.
  3.  Click into the WLAN setting and choose the Wi-Fi network.
  4.  Enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted and initiate the connection.
  5.  Upon successful connection, the  icon will light up in the camera list.

Important Note:

  •  A weak Wi-Fi signal can cause interference and reduce bandwidth, affecting camera connection. Move the camera closer to the Wi-Fi router for better reception.
  •  Choose 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, if possible, for higher data bandwidth.

4G LTE Connectivity

  1. Prepare a compatible Micro-SIM card. Refer to the “LTE Frequency Bands” below to verify that your SIM card provider supports these bands in your operating location for optimal performance.
  2. Follow the steps on “ATL4500G Preinstallation Preparation Guide” (A sperate sheet come within the package) to install the SIM card.
  3. If the camera is in LTE mode (default connectivity mode), the SIM card should be automatically detected and registered with the network.
  4. Upon successful registration, a signal strength bar will appear on the camera's dashboard display. Also, the  icon with a 4G symbol in the camera list will light up.

Type

Frequency Bands

LTE FDD

B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B18/ B19/B20/B25/B26/B28

LTE TDD

B38/B39/B40/B41

WCDMA

B1/B2/B4/B5/B6/B8/B19

GSM

B2/B3/B5/B8

You can further verify the connection and view the LTE internet strength by navigating to System Settings > Connectivity Mode > LTE Mode.

Important Note: Using an incorrectly sized SIM card may damage the camera. If necessary, use a SIM card adapter to achieve the correct size.

APN Settings (Manual Configuration)

In some cases, automatic registration may not be successful. If the signal strength indicator does not appear after following the steps above, you may need to manually configure the Access Point Name (APN) settings.

  1.  Navigate to System Settings > Connectivity Mode > LTE Mode > APN Settings.
  2. Enter the APN, username, and password provided by your mobile carrier.

Important Note: Consult your carrier's documentation or website for the correct APN settings for your SIM card. Incorrect APN settings will prevent the camera from connecting to the LTE network.
