After ATLI Cam+ finds your camera through Bluetooth, the app asks you to select a connection method:
-
Connect via Direct Wi-Fi Mode
-
Connect via WLAN Mode
Both methods allow ATLI Cam+ to communicate with the camera. The difference is how your mobile device reaches the camera.
-
In Direct Wi-Fi Mode, your mobile device connects directly to the camera.
-
In WLAN Mode, your mobile device and camera communicate through the same local Wi-Fi network.
Neither connection method provides remote access over the internet.
Which connection method should I choose?
Choose Direct Wi-Fi Mode if:
-
You want the simplest connection method.
-
You are near the camera.
-
No local Wi-Fi network is available.
-
You do not know the password for the local Wi-Fi network.
-
You want to connect directly without using a router.
Choose WLAN Mode if:
-
A local Wi-Fi network is available.
-
You know the password for that network.
-
You want your mobile device and camera to communicate through the same local network.
-
You want your mobile device to remain connected to its usual Wi-Fi network while using the camera.
If you are unsure, choose Direct Wi-Fi Mode. It is generally the simplest option for connecting to the camera on site.
Common examples
Example 1: There is no Wi-Fi at the camera location
You are using the camera outdoors or at a site without a local Wi-Fi network.
Choose Direct Wi-Fi Mode. Your mobile device can connect directly to the camera without a router or internet connection.
Example 2: You are using the camera at home
A home Wi-Fi network is available, and you know its password.
You may choose WLAN Mode so that your mobile device and camera communicate through the same home network.
Example 3: You do not know the local Wi-Fi password
Choose Direct Wi-Fi Mode. A local Wi-Fi password is not required for a direct connection to the camera.
Example 4: Your phone reports that the camera’s network has no internet
You selected Direct Wi-Fi Mode and joined the camera’s Wi-Fi network.
This message is normal. Stay connected to the camera’s network and return to ATLI Cam+.
Example 5: Your phone and camera are using different networks
Your camera is on one local network, but your phone is connected to another Wi-Fi network or using mobile data.
WLAN Mode will not work. Connect your mobile device through the same local network as the camera, or use Direct Wi-Fi Mode when you are near the camera.
Example 6: You want to access the camera while away from the site
Neither Direct Wi-Fi Mode nor WLAN Mode provides remote access over the internet.
You must be near the camera for a direct connection or connected through the same local network for a WLAN connection.
