As an extension to Local Wi-Fi, it is possible to establish FTP connections from the internet as shown in the network configuration below.
This requires some basic networking knowledge and router setup. In order for this to work, external FTP traffic from the internet must be routed to the Camera directly. This involves either setting up DMZ or Port Forward in your router.
The example below shows how to set up an FTP port forward in an Asus router. The camera IP is 192.168.10.195. FTP traffic is coming from port 20 or 21 and they will be forwarded to port 21 at 192.168.10.195.
In addition, you need to know the public IP of the router. You can find out by checking the WAN status in your router or do a Google search on “What is my IP” on a computer in the same network. If the public IP is dynamic, it would be best to configure the DDNS service in your router as well.
Type in the external IP or DDNS address, Username, and Password of the camera then hit [Quickconnect]
