What is WLAN mode?

In WLAN Mode, your mobile device and the camera communicate through the same local Wi-Fi network.

The connection works like this:

Mobile device → Local Wi-Fi network → Camera

A local Wi-Fi network is required. However, internet access is not required for communication between ATLI Cam+ and the camera.

What is a local Wi-Fi network?

A local Wi-Fi network is the network provided by a nearby router or wireless access point, such as:

  • Your home Wi-Fi
  • Your office Wi-Fi
  • A private Wi-Fi network at the installation site

In WLAN Mode, the local network provides the communication path between your mobile device and the camera.

This connection remains within the local network. It does not provide cloud access or internet-based remote access to the camera.

What does “the same local network” mean?

Your mobile device and camera must be connected through the same local network and must be allowed to communicate with each other.

For most home and small-office networks, this means that both devices use the same router or local network.

For example:

  • Camera on home Wi-Fi + phone on the same home Wi-Fi: WLAN connection can work
  • Camera on home Wi-Fi + phone using mobile data: WLAN connection cannot work
  • Camera on office Wi-Fi + phone on a separate guest network: WLAN connection may not work
  • Camera and phone at different locations: WLAN connection cannot work

Does WLAN Mode require internet access?

No.

WLAN Mode requires a local Wi-Fi network, but that network does not need to have internet access for the mobile device and camera to communicate locally.

The important requirement is that both devices can communicate through the same local network.

Does WLAN Mode provide remote access?

No.

WLAN Mode does not allow you to access the camera from another location through the internet.

For example, if the camera is connected to your home network:

  • You can access it while your mobile device is on the same local network.
  • You cannot access it while your mobile device is using another Wi-Fi network.
  • You cannot access it remotely using mobile data.

WLAN Mode should be understood as a local network connection, not an internet, cloud, or remote connection.
